Gift Baskets Corporate Gourmet

Technology can be a wonderful boon to the workplace. For example, a hundred years ago, the only way to sell the best corporate gift baskets would have been door-to-door travel. Fifty years ago it would have been necessary to cold call people in their homes in order to market corporate gift basket ideas. Today, the internet does most of the work in retailing gift basket ideas for business clients.

Completing gift baskets for office staff orders using a computer is much easier than using a typewriter. Communicating via email and text is much more effective and efficient than paper memos. I could go on, but technology does have drawbacks. For example, we have to compete with companies selling the best corporate gift baskets across the world. People who hate choices now have a million different decisions before securing a gift basket for office staff.

Perhaps most troubling, our ability to communicate more easily also creates opportunities for mischief and mystery. As I sat at my desk thinking about corporate gift basket ideas, I was preoccupied with a recent example at my office. Although selling the best corporate gift baskets can be fulfilling work, it can get boring for some people. That can lead to practical jokes like sending a gift basket for office staff with all the food already eaten.

In this case, it created the mystery of Jake Roberts. Some say he was the ghost of the greatest corporate gift basket ideas salesperson in history. Others believe it was a rival in the best corporate gift baskets industry. Sometimes I think maybe Jake was an AI designed to create gift basket ideas for business clients.

Whatever it was, here is the story.

Luxury Gift Baskets

True to almost every mystery, the problem started long before it was noticed. For me, it was a Friday afternoon while I was on a call regarding luxury gift baskets. Our company is dedicated to the best luxury gift baskets, and we use a private Slack channel for team communications. While I was on that call, I received a DM from a person named Jake asking about luxury gift baskets NYC.

Jake indicated that my boss ordered him to contact me to ask about the difference between luxury gift baskets NYC and luxury gift baskets Los Angeles. I didn't know the distinction offhand, so I had to check and respond later. It turned out that both luxury gift baskets were pretty much the same except they contained regional versions of the products.

I did not give the interaction much thought at the time. After all, I get questions about our luxury gift baskets all the time. A few days later, in fact, Jake contacted me again to ask about luxury gift baskets for her. Again, I checked on the difference and sent a return message. I have no problem answering inquiries about the best luxury gift baskets.

Luxury Corporate Gift Baskets

I heard from Jake several more times regarding various luxury corporate gift baskets. I can't remember exactly when it happened, but at some point, I began to wonder about Jake. Everyone working for the company should be familiar with luxury corporate gifts. I began to ask myself why he knew nothing about office gift baskets.

While this was simply curiosity at the time, further checking was warranted. I was willing to keep answering questions about office gift baskets because Jake was using the corporate Slack channel. Using that tool required a sign-in and password, meaning he was authorized to learn about our luxury corporate gifts. Ultimately, I decided that I would ask more questions the next time he contacted me to ask about corporate gift baskets for clients.

However, the next time we communicated things got interesting. After asking about office gift baskets, he shared a little gossip about a woman in his department. It turned out one of our coworkers developed an addiction to luxury corporate gift baskets. She was found in the office bathroom wearing a leather bunny suit and eating food from luxury corporate gifts. I didn't even know the woman, but it sounded like something she would do.

Corporate Gifts

Over the next few weeks, Jake dropped a few more pieces of interesting information about employees of our little corporate gifts company. He told me why they used raisins instead of chocolate chip cookies in the corporate gifts for employees packages. Apparently, the raisin lobby sent personalized corporate gifts as bribes to the committee making the decision. He also asked me if I had any juicy gossip about my office mates.

I resisted at first, after all, my job is to sell unique corporate gifts. I am not paid to gossip about my coworkers. Eventually, I did tell Jake about one of the warehouse workers being caught removing all the sweets from the corporate gifts under $50. I also may have let it slip that one of our office secretaries feeds her beagle corporate gifts for employees.

Most of the gossip was harmless, but occasionally it got serious. I was told about an employee who was fired because his kid revealed they had a basement full of unique corporate gifts. I was also shocked to hear about a couple that got divorced and had to share a subscription to monthly personalized corporate gifts. It was about four months in before I realized Jake's gossip was more serious than a goat with a box full of personalized corporate gifts.

Corporate Gift Baskets For Employees

Importantly, up until this point, I thought my Jake experience was alone. I did not realize he was asking the entire office questions about gourmet gift baskets. It therefore never occurred to me that the whole company was sharing both rumors and office gift baskets. After all, how often do you tell your coworkers about some random question about corporate gift baskets for employees?

I guess this is why none of us anticipated the cause when the chaos first started. I walked into the office one Monday and found two women throwing office gift baskets at each other. One of our managers was arrested by the Coast guard heading to Mexico with a boat full of gourmet gift baskets. The company executives even received a visit from the Secret Service about corporate gift baskets for employees that were sent to the White House.

Throughout all this disarray was a recurring theme of secrets being revealed. Finally, our corporate office hired a private investigator to discover the problem and get us back to office gift baskets sales. Over time, we all began to realize that somebody was intentionally causing drama that disrupted the ability to sell gourmet gift baskets. After months of havoc, our future of providing gift baskets for employees working from home was in question.

Unique Gift Baskets

Interestingly, it was a combination of two investigations that finally led us to the culprit. After being bribed with a few unique gift baskets, the Secret Service finally revealed the name, Jake Roberts. At the time, we went back to selling the best luxury gift baskets because the name was not familiar. However, the private investigator's work also uncovered Jake's questions about luxury gift baskets for couples. Encountering an unknown name twice began to raise some eyebrows.

That was also when people finally began admitting the source of the troubling information. It turned out that nearly everyone received private communications including questions about unique gift baskets for her. Almost the entire office started exchanging gossip with Jake in between inquiries about the best luxury gift baskets. He was apparently obtaining secret information about our unique gift baskets and sowing discord.

Corporate Gift Baskets With Logo

Even after the investigations finished, we still do not know the identity of Jake Roberts. No person by that name is involved in manufacturing our unique corporate gifts. No administrative or sales staff log in to our private Slack channel using that ID. No matter how many questions about customized corporate gifts we received, we are not able to figure out the true identity. Someone out there knows the secret details of the best custom gift baskets.

Since we never heard from him again, we will likely never know who was asking the questions about our unique corporate gifts. Perhaps time will tell if information about the best custom gift baskets was the ultimate goal, or if the point was to cause chaos. Regardless, none of us will ever answer routine questions about corporate gifts for employees without verifying the source of the message.
