About Groundwork Coffee

Nearly 30 years ago, Groundwork opened its doors in Venice Beach, CA with a small-batch roaster and a mission: to source and share the very best organic coffee they could find.

The moment they opened the doors to their very first cafe in Venice Beach, Groundwork knew they had found their calling and their people.  Groundwork Coffee had a humble goal to source and share with their local community the very best organic coffee they could find and demand grew quickly so they started roasting coffee 24/7 out of their tiny cafe on Rose Avenue to keep up.

Now, nearly 30 years later thanks to the neighbors and friends they’ve been fortunate enough to serve, they have new cafes opening all along the West Coast, a growing line of cold brew coffees, and two very busy roasteries, located in Los Angeles and Portland. They’ve also been profoundly lucky to see the development of dozens of new organic coffee farms around the world and are proud to continue sharing their exceptional coffees with you.

Groundwork coffee is sourced from every growing region in the world. Their mission is to ensure that none of those offerings come at the expense of the farmers who brought them to market.

The coffee is certified organic, fairly traded, and ethically sourced because Groundwork believes that good coffee starts with an investment in the farmers, growers, and communities.
