Visitors tap their noses against Beecher’s glass-walled cheesemaking kitchens to witness the crafting of its signature Flagship cheese, as well as many of the other award-winning cheeses. By starting with fresh, pure milk from local farms and applying the traditional methods used by cheesemakers for thousands of years, Beecher's Handmade Cheese is free of anything artificial and full of everything artisanal.  

As a cheese lover since childhood, founder Kurt Beecher Dammeier remembers encouraging his mother to buy premium cheese at a time when processed cheese was overtaking the market.  He draws inspiration from his great-grandfather, named Beecher, who purchased market Stilton by the wheel...
 

In 2003, Kurt Beecher Dammeier opened his first store Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market.  Since opening day, he's had ambitions beyond just making great cheese. He has long felt passionate about eating food free of harmful additives and preservatives.

That’s why everything produced, from the handcrafted cheeses to the delicious side dishes and crackers, is authentic, original, full-flavored food made with ingredients trusted and are proud of. In keeping with Beecher's commitment to pure food, Beecher's contributes 1% of all sales to The Beecher's Foundation, building a better food future for all through youth and adult food education.

Beecher's has received numerous awards and medals of excellence from cheese competitions worldwide. In 2017, Beecher's Flagship Reserve has named the best clothbound cheddar in America at the American Cheese Society's Annual Competition.
